| DuPont Aircraft wipes
: strength and versatility for a variety of aviation applications |
|
Socomore
is the European distributor for Sontara® AC, the wipers
especially engineered by DuPont for the aircraft industry.
Now there’s a versatile new wipe specifically engineered to meet
the toughest demands of aviation manufacturing and maintenance:
Sontara® AC™ aircraft wipes from DuPont. Unlike rags and rental
towels, Sontara® AC™ wipes are "The Clean Choice™"— manufactured
in a patented process that delivers exceptional absorbency and low
linting.
Sontara® AC™
aircraft wipes contain no metal particles and offer excellent wipe-dry
that virtually eliminates streaking. And they hold tough solvents
like MEK (Methylethyl Ketone) and MPK (Methylpropyl Ketone) without
falling apart. Plus they’re manufactured without binders or glue
that can break down and cause contamination. With new Sontara® AC™
aircraft wipes from DuPont, you’re cleared for take-off.

Rental
Towels :
- Laundered towels are potential
health hazards: highly contaminated - aircraft fuels, solvents,
adhesives, detergents, metal shavings -
- Variety of prices - what
user will pay
- Laundry counts towels and
charges high fee for those “lost”
- Rental laundries cited by
EPA study as environmental offender - contaminate water supplies,
air….

Research on laundered wipes
Analysis on:
- heavy metals
- Extrable Organic Halogen content (EOX)
- pH
- conductivity
( compared to nonwovens)
|
|
> Results
and conclusions |
|
|
Heavy metals ~ x
10 nonwovensTNT
- high level of EOX
- pH high: risk of irritation
- dirty appearance
- contain metallic particles
Recommendation :
> Laundered wipes should be labelled as “possibly containing
contaminants”
> Gloves should be used to protect the user! |
